About photos and their edition

It has always seemed to me that by editing photos they lose some of their essence, which is to capture an instant of reality. However, some time ago I decided to edit some photos I had taken, especially to improve the contrasts, saturation and colors. While it is true that the colors are more vivid and the images are more clear, they are, maybe, no longer a pure reflection of reality....

Introducing The Gallery

Initially I had created the blog to write a bit about everything, but ideally fiction, short stories and the like. Also, it was always an idea to embellish those writings with photos that I had taken myself. Of course, I have used the blog to write about what comes to my head, or rather what disturbs my head, and I have not dedicated time to that creative process, which is why this whole project began....

ProtonVPN connection failing

I am a user of the ProtonVPN free plan, and although I do not know how is it for the paid users, the Linux official apps, and even the terminal client, are literally garbage. In my own experience, the app is really slow and buggy, but lately, since two months ago or something it was quite frequent that I was connected and then, out of a sudden, the connection dropped....

Statistics of the site one month later with Umami

I decided to install Umami on the VPS and get the statistics of the website exactly one month ago. This is an open source and privacy focused solution, which do not collect nor track any personal data of the blog users, it only gathers simple statistics. The script inserted in each post is of about 2KB, therefore not affecting neither the data consumption of the user, nor the loading time of the blog posts....

Unfinished attempt to add a comment section to the blog

I have been thinking about including a comments section at the end of each post, to give readers a quick and easy way to say hi or share their opinions. Nobody really write an email to share what they thought about any post. Yesterday, I got hands on it, and search for libre alternatives, and I found Isso....

Finally understood the difference between PKM and Zettelkasten, I think

Some time ago I read this post in the Zettelkasten.de website taking about the differences between a Zettelkasten and a Personal Knowledge Management system (PKM), and even talked about it in My Experience with a Zettelkasten, but it wasn’t until now that I realized its real meaning. I have been using Logseq for some weeks, maybe one or two months, mainly because of the Journal pages features, where I just wrote everything I found interesting....

LaTeX is amazing

$\LaTeX$ is just amazing for every minimally complex document you need to do. The beauty of it is that you can focus on writing, while it makes all the magic of formatting for you in the background. It is true that LaTeX has a steeper learning curve than other What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) alternatives, but I think, in a perfect world, it would make an enormous difference in productivity and easy of use for researchers, at the cost of five days to familiarize with it....

How can you be so sure that's what you want?

In the previous post I explained that I don’t think the common path of trading my time for money fits how I see myself in a future. But how do I see myself in the future? Of course on many occasions, like children, you see something that you fall in love with and say “I want to do that”, but usually before long it’s water under the bridge....
